During development, a Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum cleaner’s trigger on/off switch will be punched 20,000 times. Prototypes will be drop tested 10,000 times. The wand and floor tool are subjected to 33,819 impact tests. Another rig slams cleaner heads into steel table legs. And every 100th bin off the production line is whacked with a lump hammer, just to make sure. 636 different validation tests, and over 400 hours of testing, simulate 5 years of use and abuse in an average home.
